How To Enhance The Human Brain

The human brain is the soul of the human nervous system. It controls involuntary activities such as respiration, digestion, and heartbeat, which are also known as automatic functions of the body. This organ also controls other conscious activities that are considered as higher order activities like reasoning, abstraction, and thought. The human brain is superior to any other brain of any other living species that are known to humankind.

The brain is also the center by which other human characteristics are defined. Creativity, for example, is much associated with the brain. So is personality. The brain lets us make decisions and define colors and smells. This organ controls every other perceived activity of the human body.

However, the human brain, as strong and as invincible as it may look, is not going to stay that way forever. As with any other part of the body, the human brain will wither in the future. One’s lifestyle and all other external factors will take a toll against the human brain. As one grows old, the human brain will become slower in terms of functioning and rejuvenating itself. However, there are ways to enhance the power of the human brain as age catches up. This article tries to give some useful tips on how to do just that.

1. Live a healthy lifestyle.

The brain is an integral part of the human anatomy. It is probably the most important organ in the body; but of course, we all know that every other organ in the body works for the others to function properly. The human brain is subject to the lifestyle of the person who owns it. If the person loves alcohol, he may not fully reap the powers of his brain. Alcohol and other dangerous substances destroy brain cells. An alcoholic will argue that, “I’ve been using only ten percent of my brain, drinking will activate the other 90% of it.” This is a total fallacy. This premonition was formulated in the 1800s and there is no truth in it. The brain is a lifetime organ, so we must preserve and protect it.

2. Eat the right foods.

Eating the right sets of food will definitely benefit the brain. The brain is the most active part of the body. Even when one sleeps, the brain remains active and vibrant. The brain will appreciate it if one eats the right and balanced sets of food. The sad thing is that the brain is usually taken for granted when it comes to having a balanced meal or a workout because people are so focused into developing their outside looks. It’s about time that we give the brain a break.

3. Engage in proper exercise.

Proper exercise is good for the brain and not only for the body. The human brain needs a well-balanced life.

4. Release stress once in a while

Releasing stress is necessary to be able to clear the brain from all the difficulties and the clouds in one’s life. One must take time to get into a relaxing mood and a good night sleep.

The brain is an organ to be cherished. No individual will ever be able to live his life to the fullest if his brain is not functioning well. A brain that is cared for will result in a more active and fulfilling life.

FIFTY-THREE individuals have already registered for Bahrain’s second annual Festival of the Mind, organisers announced yesterday.

It has incorporated a competition for children this year to encourage further involvement from the community.

The event is being organised by Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibition (MICE) Management and hosted by Intelnacom – Bahrain. It will take place at the Gulf Hotel’s Gulf International Convention Centre, from October 23 to 26.

Schools and universities can enter a team of 16 pupils who will each take turns competing in four disciplines – chess, Scrabble, dhama and sudoku.

Other students can support their team and can also take part in a workshop that introduces each of these games and help newcomers learn how to play.

“The idea of the festival is to encourage learning in a fun way”, said Intelnacom deputy chief executive officer Fuad Mubarak.

“We are encouraging people to understand how to develop the capacity of their mental ability through a number of events that are entertaining and fun for all – we call it ‘Edu-taining’.

The World Memory Championship (WMC) will also take place in Bahrain for the second year running during the festival. Founder Tony Buzan praised Bahrain as a venue and said that he is looking forward to the event.

In addition to the Inter-School’s Challenge, there will also be an Inter-University Challenge where Bahrain universities can also enter teams to take up the challenge in the four disciplines.

Intelnacom will also be helping people gear up for the event by undertaking a Community Challenge in local malls in the weeks leading up to the festival, details of which will be announced shortly.

The disciplines undertaken during the WMC are not culturally or language-specific to ensure a level playing field for international competition. Subjects include spoken numbers, playing cards, dates, abstract images, binary digits, random words and names and faces. Dr Gunther Karsten of Erfurt, from Germany, won the 16th WMC last year, ousting his closest competitor and previous world champion Ben Pridmore of England. Accuracy The annual WMC represents one of the toughest mental tests of all time with competitors being asked to memorise 4,000 digit numbers and recall with absolute accuracy at least 10 packs of cards in one hour. Entry fee is BD2, including registration and workshops. The official handlers are Global Tourism Club, media sponsors are Al Watan Newspaper and the Gulf Daily News (GDN) and diamond sponsors are Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) and Microsoft. Can you boost your psychic intuition with brain exercise? You’ll find out shortly.

We are all intuitive creatures by design. Everyone is capable of varying degree of intuition. Research has found that high level of intuitive ability is a critical success factor in career and life. The question is: How to strengthen the muscle of your psychic intuition?

What is the brain exercise that can increase your intuitive power? The answer is: Drawing!

How can drawing increase your psychic intuition? First, let’s understand this from the point of how drawing functions as a brain exercise.

Drawing is a whole skill that makes up of a group of component skills, namely, the skills of perception of:

1. Edges.
2. Spaces
3. Relationships
4. Lights and shadows
5. Whole, or gestalt

These perceptual skills become integrated into a whole skill that determines your ability to draw. Once you learn the principles of these skills, you can learn to draw relatively quickly.

In the process of learning to draw, your brain goes through a complex chain of brain exercise to learn how to control the way it handles information. The benefit of learning to draw is to link to other activities and the possibility of seeing things differently by tapping into your right-brain.

Understanding How Left-Brain and Right-Brain Work

Now, let’s go a step further to explain what is right-brain and left-brain.

The right-brain relies on nonverbal cues to process perceptions. It’s good at tasks that require the ability to see similarities, to make connections, to understand how parts fit together as a whole, and to perceive overall patterns instantaneously. It is capable of drawing insights that come from non-linear, multi-dimensional mode of brain exercise.

On the other hand, the left side of the brain excels at verbal, analytical, rational and logical tasks. It’s the dominant buddy of the right-brain, taking over most of the brain’s normal activities, especially when you are at serious work. It is the master of planning and systematic works. It has a penchant for using words to describe and define, figuring things out step by step, drawing conclusions based on facts and logic, and thinking in a linear way.

Despite being a linear thinker that has limited scope of thinking, the left-brain takes over most of our daily tasks. Only in situations when it finds a particular job undesirable, or if a certain task takes too much time, is too detailed or slow or simply too difficult, then the left side gives up.

If you want the right-brain, which is more creative and intuitive, to be involved more in your thinking process, you must create chances for it to participate. The trick is to present tasks in a way that discourage the left-brain, and hence create opportunities for the right-brain to demonstrate its capability.

When you engage in drawing, you create the chance for the right-brain to gain dominance. If you do it regular as a hobby, drawing is a powerful brain exercise that can increases your psychic intuition.

More Advance Way To Develop Your Psychic Intuition

One technique designed by Dr. Betty Edwards to develop subconscious intuitive power through drawing, is to draw with your non-dominant hand looking at images that are upside down.

The rationale is: This puts the left brain in a state of confusion so that it can’t easily decipher shapes, lost its top-bottom orientation, unable to attach labels and categorize them to match stored memories. This process creates an opportunity to integrate your right-brain and allows it to become dominant. When presented with a confusing image, the left-brain gives up and the right-brain takes over.

You have probably heard of the saying that the best way to deal with a challenging issue is to sleep on it.

This problem-solving tactics is based on the same argument discussed above. After a long hard day cracking at the problem without success, the left-brain is exhausted. This is the perfect chance for the intuitive and creative right-brain to flex its muscle. It will sneak into the thinking space and come up with solutions that seem to have come from “The Higher Mind”.

By understanding how your brain works, you can maximize its psychic intuition capability with regular practice of this powerful brain exercise.
